Stainless Steel 347H Seamless Tubes Of Manufacturing Process

Stainless steel 347h seamless tube manufacturing involves a five-stage process to ensure high quality.
Stainless Steel Seamless Tubes Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Selection
High-quality stainless steel billets and strips are carefully selected for superior strength and corrosion resistance.

2. Tubes Formation
The selected raw material is formed into tubes using seamless extrusion methods, depending on the application.

3. Heat Treatment
Tubes undergo required controlled heat treatment to enhance mechanical properties and relieve internal stresses.

4. Cold Working and Finishing
After heat treatment, tube are cold-worked for better surface finish, dimensional accuracy and improved strength.

5. Quality Control and Testing
Every tube is thoroughly inspected and tested to ensure it meets international quality standards for performance and reliability.

Application Of Stainless Steel 347H Seamless Tubes

Stainless steel 347H seamless tubes are primarily used in the chemical and petrochemical industry for high-temperature and corrosive fluid transport, making it the leading sector for their application. They are widely installed in heat exchangers, reactors, and furnace components where thermal stability and resistance to intergranular corrosion are critical. These tubes are also used in refineries, power plants, and exhaust systems in the aerospace and automotive sectors, where they withstand constant thermal cycling and high-pressure environments without failure. Their durability and heat resistance make them essential in processing lines handling hot acids, steam, and flue gases.

FAQ's

What is 347H material?

347H is a high-carbon version of the standard Type 347 austenitic stainless steel. The ‘H’ stands for “High Carbon.” This higher carbon content is specifically added to boost the material’s creep resistance and provide higher strength at elevated temperatures. Like its standard counterpart, it is stabilized with Niobium (Columbium) to prevent a type of corrosion called sensitization, which happens after welding. This makes it ideal for critical, high-heat applications.

The typical density for 347H stainless steel tube is approximately 7.96 to 8.00 grams per cubic centimeter g/cm3. In Imperial units, this is about 0.288 pounds per cubic inch lb/in3. This density is comparable to many other common austenitic stainless steel grades, like 304.

The SS 347H tube is designed for superior performance in high-temperature settings. It has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to the range of 800 °F to 1500 °F (427 °C to 816 °C). For continuous service, its maximum temperature limit for oxidation and strength is around 1500°F (815°C) in common code applications, and it can resist oxidation up to about 1650°F (900°C) for intermittent use.

The minimum specified 0.2% offset yield strength for 347H tube in the annealed condition is typically 30 ksi (205 MPa). This value represents the stress the material can handle before permanent deformation begins. The higher carbon content of 347H helps it maintain this strength, and its high-temperature strength is generally better than standard Type 347 and other common grades like 304.
